Identification of vaccine targets & design of vaccine against SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus using computational and deep learning-based approaches

Bilal Ahmed Abbasi et al.

Summary: This study focused on finding potential vaccine candidates for COVID-19 using computational methods. A spike protein of SARS-CoV-2 was identified as a potential vaccine candidate and its B-cell and T-cell epitopes were examined. The study also investigated the antigenicity and interaction of the epitopes with different alleles. The proposed peptides showed strong binding with specific alleles and were further evaluated for antigenicity, physicochemical properties, and structure prediction. Furthermore, vaccine constructs were designed and evaluated for their binding affinity and stability. The study suggests that the vaccine constructs could be used for further in vitro and in vivo studies to design effective and safe vaccines against different strains of COVID-19.

In silico designing of vaccine candidate against Clostridium difficile

Srijita Basak et al.

Summary: Clostridium difficile infection is a major health-associated infection with high incidence and mortality rates. A chimeric vaccine candidate was designed using immunoinformatics, which showed stability and reliability in silico and molecular dynamics simulations. Docking studies demonstrated stable interactions with immune receptors, and in silico modeling indicated competent expression in E. coli system for potential immune response.

AMRFinderPlus and the Reference Gene Catalog facilitate examination of the genomic links among antimicrobial resistance, stress response, and virulence

Michael Feldgarden et al.

Summary: With the advancement of technology, in silico approaches to assessing AMR gene content have become possible. NCBI has developed a comprehensive AMR gene database and AMR gene detection tool, expanding the Reference Gene Catalog and releasing AMRFinderPlus to provide a more accurate means of identifying AMR genes and determining their relationship with phenotypes.
