Whole-Exome Sequencing in 10 Unrelated Patients with Syndromic Hidradenitis Suppurativa: A Preliminary Step for a Genotype-Phenotype Correlation

Angelo Valerio Marzano et al.

Summary: Syndromic hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), an immune-mediated condition associated with systemic comorbidities, is a genetic disease that has not been completely understood. This study used whole-exome sequencing to identify genetic variants associated with different clinical features of syndromic HS. The findings suggest that syndromic HS can be considered as a polygenic autoinflammatory condition.

Identification of Biomarkers and Critical Evaluation of Biomarker Validation in Hidradenitis Suppurativa A Systematic Review

Samuel Der Sarkissian et al.

Summary: This study systematically identified and evaluated the existing knowledge of biomarkers in hidradenitis suppurativa (HS). The findings showed that none of the identified biomarkers had sufficient clinical validity to be recommended for routine use in clinical practice. Standardization of goals and methods, as well as the integration of biomarkers into clinical trials, are important priorities for the management of HS.

Prevalence of Hidradenitis Suppurativa A Systematic Review and Meta-regression Analysis

Abdulhadi Jfri et al.

Summary: The prevalence of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) was estimated to be 0.40% in the overall population, with clinical samples showing a higher prevalence (1.7%) compared to population-based studies (0.3%). These findings can aid in policy formulation and guiding principles for better disease diagnosis.
