Hong Zhang et al.

Summary: This article introduces an eco-friendly and cost-effective strategy for fabricating high-efficiency perovskite solar cells, which involves diluting perovskite precursors with a high volatility co-solvent to reduce toxic waste and material cost. The strategy is universally successful across different perovskite compositions, potentially facilitating the translation of perovskite technologies from lab to fab.

Utilizing Nonpolar Organic Solvents for the Deposition of Metal-Halide Perovskite Films and the Realization of Organic Semiconductor/Perovskite Composite Photovoltaics

Nakita K. Noel et al.

Summary: Perovskite-based optoelectronics, known for their simple fabrication processes and high device efficiencies, are on the path to commercialization. However, the use of toxic solvents in the production of perovskite precursor inks poses a potential obstacle. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of nonpolar organic solvents, such as toluene, combined with butylamine as a solvent for alkylammonium-based perovskite inks. This finding opens up possibilities for blending perovskite inks with previously incompatible materials, enabling new opportunities for efficient photovoltaics, light-emitting diodes, and other semiconductor devices.

Perovskite solar cells with atomically coherent interlayers on SnO2 electrodes

Hanul Min et al.

Summary: By introducing an interlayer between the electron-transporting and perovskite layers in perovskite solar cells, researchers have successfully enhanced charge extraction and transport from the perovskite, leading to higher power conversion efficiency and fewer interfacial defects. The coherent interlayer allowed the fabrication of devices with a certified efficiency of 25.5%, which maintained about 90% of its initial efficiency even after continuous light exposure for 500 hours. The findings provide guidelines for designing defect-minimizing interfaces in metal halide perovskites and electron-transporting layers.

Propylammonium Chloride Additive for Efficient and Stable FAPbI3 Perovskite Solar Cells

Yong Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, n-propylammonium chloride (PACl) is proposed as an alternative to methylammonium chloride (MACl) to improve the stability and efficiency of FAPbI(3)-based perovskite solar cells. The addition of PACl increases perovskite grain size and significantly prolongs carrier lifetime. Compared to MACl, the PACl additive leads to better stability against moisture due to the in situ formed barrier at the bulk perovskite.
