A Versatile DNA Origami-Based Plasmonic Nanoantenna for Label-Free Single-Molecule Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy

Kosti Tapio et al.

Summary: DNA origami technology enables precise assembly of chemical entities at the nanoscale, creating sophisticated functional materials. By assembling Au or Ag nanoparticle dimers, a versatile DNA origami nanofork antenna (DONA) has been developed, achieving signal enhancements in surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) up to 10(11). Using the DNA origami structure, single-molecule SERS measurements of three dyes, cytochrome c, and horseradish peroxidase proteins have been successfully demonstrated.
