Summary: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) showed signs of differentiation into hepatic-like cells after treatment with 5 mM valproic acid (VPA) for 24 hours in a 3D scaffold. The VPA-treated MSCs exhibited significant upregulation in the expression of hepatic genes and proteins, as well as increased acetylation of histones (H3 and H4), and enhanced glycogen storage function.
