Non-microRNA binding competitively inhibits LIN28 regulation

Frederick E. Tan et al.

Summary: The study shows that LIN28 indirectly regulates by binding non-miRNA transcripts, with non-miRNA binding sites acting to sequester LIN28 protein and impede its regulation of let-7. These findings demonstrate that the binding properties of the transcriptome broadly affect an RBP's ability to mediate changes in RNA metabolism and gene expression.

DHX30 Coordinates Cytoplasmic Translation and Mitochondrial Function Contributing to Cancer Cell Survival

Bartolomeo Bosco et al.

Summary: Translation machinery in cells is coordinated by DHX30, affecting cell proliferation and energy metabolism. Silencing DHX30 enhances cytoplasmic ribosomal proteins translation while reducing mitoribosomal proteins translation, potentially impacting cancer cell fitness. Targeting DHX30 could exploit a vulnerability in cancer cells.
