Kaolinite clays as a source of raw materials for the aluminum industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan

B. K. Kenzhaliyev et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of preliminary chemical activation on processing kaolinite clays from the Alekseevsky deposit. It was found that changes in the phase composition of kaolinite fraction occurred during the preliminary chemical activation, resulting in a decrease in muscovite content and formation of sodium aluminosilicate. The optimal mode of preliminary chemical activation was established, and a basic technological scheme for the processing of kaolinite clays was proposed.

Processing Red Mud Produced at the Eti Aluminyum AS Seydisehir Alumina Refinery to Recover Gallium and Vanadium and Obtain Iron Oxide Pigments

R. A. Abdulvaliev et al.

Summary: The Bayer-hydrogarnet technology is utilized to process red mud, separating and recovering important components such as Na2O, Al2O3, Ga2O3, and V2O5, while producing iron oxide pigments. The process involves autoclave leaching of red mud to obtain hydrogarnet mud and recover key components into solution. The treated solution can further be utilized to recover Ga2O3 and V2O5, while a fine red-brown fraction separated from the hydrogarnet mud can be used as an iron oxide pigment containing iron in various oxidation states.

Modification of the phase composition of low-grade gibbsite-kaolinite bauxites

R. A. Abdulvaliyev et al.

Summary: Effective development of technology for preliminary enrichment of low-quality bauxites is necessary, which can be achieved by separating the clayey high-siliceous and coarse-crystalline fractions to increase the silicon modulus. Chemical activation can lead to changes in phase composition and the formation of dawsonite phase in bauxite, densifying the mineral structure.
