Elastoplastic Characterization of Zn-Cu-Ti Alloy Sheets: Experiments, Modeling, and Simulation

Francisco Alister et al.

Summary: The elastoplastic behavior of Zn20 alloy sheets is characterized using a methodology that includes experiments, modeling, and numerical simulations. Different tests and models are used to describe and validate the material behavior under various loading conditions, leading to a robust model for the elastoplastic response of the alloy sheets.

Effect of microstructural heterogeneity on the balanced-biaxial and tensile behavior of a Zn alloy sheet

Jairo Alberto Munoz et al.

Summary: A 0.65 mm thick Zn sheet was processed by equal channel angular sheet extrusion (ECASE) at room temperature, resulting in the fabrication of a heterogeneous material. The processed sheet exhibited larger dislocation clusters and smaller grain sizes on the surface compared to the center of the sheet, leading to a 35% increase in yield strength and a fracture elongation of 26%. ECASE processing also achieved a slightly higher deformation limit and a weight reduction of 9%. The improvement in mechanical properties of the processed sheet can be attributed to the formation of twins on the surface, resulting in smaller grain sizes and heterogeneity between twinned and twin-free grains.

A review of recent investigations using the Marciniak-Kuczynski technique in conjunction with crystal plasticity models

Javier W. Signorelli et al.

Summary: The Marciniak-Kuczynski (MK) technique is a popular model for studying sheet metal formability, allowing for the prediction of limit strains and forming limit curves (FLC). This paper reviews various studies on how texture and anisotropy affect FLCs, and discusses the application of different constitutive models in predicting FLCs.

Modeling texture evolution during monotonic loading of Zn-Cu-Ti alloy sheet using the viscoplastic self-consistent polycrystal model

A. Roatta et al.

Summary: The study successfully simulated the mechanical response and texture evolution of Zn-Cu-Ti alloy sheet under different loading directions using the VPSC model and considering the CDRX effect. The results show that the effect of CDRX on crystallographic orientations can effectively mimic the material's texture evolution.

How Strain-Rate Sensitivity Creates Two Forming-Limit Diagrams: Bragard-Type Versus Instability-Strain, Correlation-Coefficient-Based Temporal Curves

M. A. Bertinetti et al.

Summary: Digital-image correlation techniques can now be used to measure the forming-limit diagram (FLD) of metal sheets, and the relationship between Bragard-type and temporal FLDs varies depending on the metal's strain-rate sensitivity. The strain paths followed by different metals with the same MK sample geometries were found to be different, indicating the need to account for different FLDs for positive strain-rate sensitive metals.
