Previous hamstring muscle strain injury alters passive tissue stiffness and vibration sense

Tomonori Kawai et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of previous hamstring strain injury on tissue stiffness and vibration sense in professional soccer players. The results showed that previously injured players exhibited higher tissue stiffness and lower vibration sensitivity compared to uninjured players, with similar differences between injured and uninjured legs. Age and body mass index did not show a significant relationship with tissue stiffness and vibration disappearance threshold.

Comparison of the Acute Effects of Hold-Relax and Static Stretching among Older Adults

Masatoshi Nakamura et al.

Summary: The study compared the effects of static stretching and hold-relax stretching on ROM and muscle stiffness in older adults, showing that both methods increased ROM, with static stretching also decreasing muscle stiffness. Therefore, both hold-relax stretching and static stretching are recommended for older adults to improve ROM, with static stretching particularly helpful in reducing muscle stiffness.

Relationship between exercise-induced muscle soreness, pain thresholds, and skin temperature in men and women

Willian da Silva et al.

Summary: This study revealed the relationship between exercise-induced muscle soreness, pain, and skin temperature changes, as well as the gender-specific effects on skin temperature variations. Differences between men and women were observed in DOMS and PPT, while skin temperature responses also varied by sex.

Sex and Age-Group Differences in Strength, Jump, Speed, Flexibility, and Endurance Performances of Swedish Elite Gymnasts Competing in TeamGym

Stefan Hoog et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the sex and age group differences in strength, jump, speed, flexibility, and endurance performances of TeamGym athletes. Results showed that males exhibited greater strength and jump performance, while females showed higher flexibility. Seniors outperformed juniors in most physical performance metrics, with male seniors performing better in jump and speed tests compared to male juniors.
