Is constitutional thinness really different from anorexia nervosa? A systematic review and meta-analysis

Melina Bailly et al.

Summary: Constitutionally thin individuals have a lighter body weight but are not lacking in fat, with a higher fat-free mass to weight ratio compared to anorexic patients, indicating a higher metabolic fat-free mass. In contrast to anorexic patients, constitutionally thin people have normal levels of insulin-like growth factor 1, estradiol, growth hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, and luteinizing hormone.
