The effect of hesperidin and luteolin isolated fromEriocephalus africanuson apoptosis, cell cycle and miRNA expression in MCF-7

Judie Magura et al.

Summary: This study investigates the molecular mechanisms underlying the anticancer activity of hesperidin and luteolin in breast cancer cell lines. The results showed that hesperidin and luteolin induced apoptosis in breast cancer cells through various mechanisms, leading to a reduction in cell viability. Additionally, they also modulated the expression of specific apoptotic regulatory genes and apoptotic microRNAs.

High prevalence of TERT aberrations in myxoid liposarcoma: TERT reactivation may play a crucial role in tumorigenesis

Junko Kunieda et al.

Summary: The study found a high prevalence of TERT promoter hotspot mutations and TERT aberrations in myxoid liposarcoma, but these are not prognostic factors. The results suggest that TERT aberrations may play a key role in tumorigenesis at an early stage.

Natural exosome-like nanovesicles from edible tea flowers suppress metastatic breast cancer via ROS generation and microbiota modulation

Qiubing Chen et al.

Summary: This study developed a new therapeutic strategy using natural nanovehicles derived from tea flowers to trigger apoptosis of breast tumors and inhibit their lung metastasis. The nanovehicles had desirable particle sizes, exosome-like morphology, and contained polyphenols, flavonoids, functional proteins, and lipids. The experiments showed that the nanovehicles exhibited strong cytotoxicity against cancer cells by generating reactive oxygen species (ROS). In addition, in mice investigations, the nanovehicles were found to accumulate in breast tumors and lung metastatic sites after injection or oral administration, resulting in inhibition of breast cancer growth and metastasis, as well as modulation of gut microbiota.

Kah Min Yap et al.

Summary: Hesperidin and hesperetin, flavonoids from citrus species, demonstrate promising chemotherapeutic and chemosensitising activities in breast cancer treatment by inhibiting cell proliferation, migration, and stem cells, as well as suppressing tumor growth and metastasis. Their combination with clinical agents enhances efficacy, but bioavailability remains a challenge. Further evaluation in clinical trials is needed for their potential development as BC treatment agents.
