SHR/NCrl rats as a model of ADHD can be discriminated from controls based on their brain, blood, or urine metabolomes

Camille Dupuy et al.

Summary: Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a common neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by inattention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity, with poorly understood neurobiological mechanisms. Metabolomics is a new strategy for investigating diseases and finding molecular biomarkers. By studying the metabolomes of SHR/NCrl rats, we can better understand the neurobiology underlying ADHD.

Some CSF Kynurenine Pathway Intermediates Associated with Disease Evolution in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

Hugo Alarcan et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the kynurenine pathway and amino acids profile in the cerebrospinal fluid of ALS patients, revealing some metabolites involved in group discrimination and identifying common discriminant metabolites for disease evolution criteria. The findings suggest a possible impairment of the kynurenine pathway towards neurotoxicity in ALS patients and highlight the need for further exploration of these pathways during disease evolution.

Cavitation-modulated inflammatory response following focused ultrasound blood-brain barrier opening

Robin Ji et al.

Summary: This study found significant changes in the relative gene expression of inflammatory cytokines and receptors in different cavitation dose groups at 6 and 24 hours after FUS-induced BBB opening. The degree of changes in relative expression levels and the number of genes with significant changes increased with higher cavitation dose. By 72 hours post-opening, gene expression levels returned to baseline in all cavitation dose groups.

Immune Influencers in Action: Metabolites and Enzymes of the Tryptophan-Kynurenine Metabolic Pathway

Masaru Tanaka et al.

Summary: The TRP-KYN metabolic pathway is responsible for the breakdown of over 95% of tryptophan. Activation of this pathway by immune responses can lead to various diseases. Immunomodulators in the pathway help the immune system achieve a tolerogenic state, leading to chronic low-grade inflammation.

Metabolism pathways of arachidonic acids: mechanisms and potential therapeutic targets

Bei Wang et al.

Summary: The arachidonic acid (AA) pathway is crucial in cardiovascular biology, carcinogenesis, and various inflammatory diseases, producing bioactive mediators that are potential targets for cardiovascular diseases, cancers, and inflammatory diseases. This review summarizes the physiological and pathophysiological importance of AA metabolizing pathways, as well as the molecular mechanisms underlying its actions in CVD and cancer progression. Additionally, clinical studies targeting AA metabolisms in different disease conditions are introduced to explore the role of AA metabolism and potential therapies.
