Molecular crowding agents engineered to make bioinspired electrolytes for high-voltage aqueous supercapacitors

Mengke Peng et al.

Summary: The development of a molecular crowding electrolyte has been found to effectively improve ion transport efficiency, with lower molecular weight polyethylene glycol (PEG) such as PEG200 showing significant enhancements in ionic conductivity. This advancement enables commercial activated carbon-based supercapacitors to work at a higher voltage with improved energy density and stability.

Fast assembly of MXene hydrogels by interfacial electrostatic interaction for supercapacitors

Mengke Peng et al.

Summary: A simple and fast method of preparing MXene hydrogels by introducing protonated thionine molecules into a MXene dispersion has been proposed in this study. The 3D hydrogel effectively suppresses restacking and oxidation of MXene, leading to improved specific capacitance and excellent stability when used as an electrode material for supercapacitors.
