Interaction of zirconia with magnesium hydride and its influence on the hydrogen storage behavior of magnesium hydride

D. Pukazhselvan et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the transformation of zirconia additive into zirconium hydride and its significant impact on lowering the dehydrogenation temperature of magnesium hydride. The results provide evidence of the chemical transformation of zirconia and support the formation of an active in situ product, zirconium hydride, which enables low temperature dehydrogenation of magnesium hydride. The study also highlights the dispersion of tiny nanoparticles on the surface and the formation of highly active in situ nanocatalysts.

Achieve high-efficiency hydrogen storage of MgH2 catalyzed by nanosheets CoMoO4 and rGO

Jiaqi Zhang et al.

Summary: The development of high-efficiency carbon-based multifunctional catalysts is crucial for improving solid-state hydrogen storage materials. In this study, CoMoO4 sheet-like nanocatalysts supported on reduced graphene oxide were synthesized and used to enhance the hydrogen storage performance of MgH2. The composite showed lower hydrogen release temperature, faster hydrogen absorption kinetics, reduced activation energy, and improved cycling stability. The synergistic effect between MgO, Co7Mo6, and Mo was found to promote hydrogen diffusion in MgH2.

Multi-mode surface plasmon resonance absorber based on dart-type single-layer graphene

Hao Chen et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a multi-mode surface plasmon resonance absorber based on dart-type single-layer graphene, which has the advantages of polarization independence, tunability, high sensitivity, and high figure of merit. The absorption effect and resonant wavelength can be dynamically tuned by adjusting the numerical values of the single-layer graphene array's structure and chemical potential.

Achieving superior hydrogen storage properties of MgH2 by the effect of TiFe and carbon nanotubes

Xiong Lu et al.

Summary: The addition of TiFe and CNTs significantly enhances the hydrogen storage performance of magnesium hydride, lowers the hydrogenation activation energy, yet has limited impact on the thermodynamic properties.Uniformly distributed TiFe and CNTs act as active catalytic units and aggregation preventers respectively, improving the hydrogen storage properties of MgH2.

Summary: This study synthesized graphene-supported TiO2 nanoparticles and investigated their effect on the hydrogen storage performance of MgH2. The results showed that the composite material can rapidly release and absorb hydrogen at lower temperatures, attributed to the synergistic effect of the catalyst and Ti2+.

Chemical transformation of additive phase in MgH2/CeO2 hydrogen storage system and its effect on catalytic performance

D. Pukazhselvan et al.

Summary: This study shows that the dehydrogenation activation energy of MgH2 can be lowered by incorporating ceria, but the ceria undergoes phase transformations during dehydrogenation. It also suggests that reduced cerium oxide phases may be mistaken as cerium hydrides, therefore the belief in CeH2 as an active catalyst in the MgH2/CeO2 hydrogen storage system needs further scrutiny.

Chemical and structural properties of reduced graphene oxide-dependence on the reducing agent

Summary: Graphene oxide (GO) and reduced graphene oxide (rGO) prepared using different reductants were studied to analyze the influence of reduction agents on the nanostructure and defects of the products. Different reductants led to variations in vacancy, C sp(3) defects, and hydroxyl group content, revealing the relationship between reaction mechanisms and product characteristics.
