Mesoporous silicas of MCM-41 type modified with iron species by template ion-exchange method as catalysts for the high-temperature NH3-SCR process-Role of iron species aggregation, silica morphology and associated reactions

Aleksandra Jankowska et al.

Summary: In this study, mesoporous silica of MCM-41 type with cylindrical and spherical morphology was synthesized and modified with iron species by template ion-exchange method. The obtained iron modified silica materials showed excellent catalytic performance in high-temperature NH3-SCR process, with specific catalytic activity depending on the morphology of the silica samples as well as the form and aggregation of deposited iron species.

Enhanced catalytic performance in low-temperature NH3-SCR process of spherical MCM-41 modified with Cu by template ion-exchange and ammonia treatment

Aleksandra Jankowska et al.

Summary: Deposition of copper by TIE method results in samples containing highly dispersed copper species and CuO nanorods, while deposition of highly dispersed copper species inside pores can be achieved through the TIE-NH3 procedure. Samples obtained by TIE-NH3 method are found to be promising catalysts for low-temperature NH3-SCR process.

Spherical Al-MCM-41 Doped with Copper by Modified TIE Method as Effective Catalyst for Low-Temperature NH3-SCR

Aleksandra Jankowska et al.

Summary: The copper-modified catalyst with aluminum containing silica spherical MCM-41 was synthesized using the template ion-exchange method and directly treated with ammonia solution. The highly dispersed monomeric Cu2+ cations, deposited on the surface, showed significantly better catalytic effectiveness in the NH3-SCR process compared to aggregated copper oxide species. The catalyst obtained by the TIE-NH3 method operated effectively in a broader temperature range and had lower activity in the side process of direct ammonia oxidation.

Mechanism of Ce-Modified Birnessite-MnO2 in Promoting SO2 Poisoning Resistance for Low-Temperature NH3-SCR

Xue Fang et al.

Summary: Ce modification of birnessite-MnO2 catalyst enhances SO2 resistance during NH3-SCR reactions through the formation of sulfates, which play different roles in the reaction mechanism, providing more acid sites for NH4+ adsorption and protecting Mn active centers from deactivation by preferentially adsorbing and oxidizing SO2 on Ce species.
