Cr-doped ZnGa2O4: Simple synthesis of intense red-NIR emitting nanoparticles with enhanced quantum efficiency

G. Sridhar et al.

Summary: In this study, Red-NIR emitting ZnGa2-xCrxO4 nanoparticles were synthesized and the effect of annealing on their properties was investigated. The annealing process resulted in an increase in crystallite size and a change in color tone, indicating dopant diffusion. Spectral analysis revealed the presence of Cr3+ and its structural characteristics in the crystal field.

Strong quantum-confined excitation and emission from violet phosphorus quantum dots

Y. W. Zhan et al.

Summary: Violet phosphorus (VP), a new type of two-dimensional semiconductor material, has shown great potential in the field of optoelectronics. In this study, high quantum yield VP quantum dots (VPQDs) were successfully prepared via liquid exfoliation and solvothermal treatment. The VPQDs exhibited strong blue photoluminescence and good photostability under ambient conditions, suggesting their possible applications in fluorescent biological imaging and photocatalytic reactions.

Mild bottom-up synthesis of carbon dots with temperature-dependent fluorescence

Hong-Gang Ye et al.

Summary: The mild bottom-up synthesis of carbon dots (CDs) for temperature sensing using carbonyl compounds as carbon sources was reported, resulting in CDs with green fluorescence. The acetylacetone (AA)-derived CDs showed green photoluminescence with absolute PL quantum yield (QY) of 21%, and their PL intensity was found to be proportional to temperature, making them potentially useful for temperature sensing.
