A new approach for determining compressibility and permeability characteristics of dredged slurries with high water content

Li Shi et al.

Summary: A new approach utilizing the filtration process is devised to evaluate the constitutive behaviors of dredged slurries. The approach combines a vacuum filtration device and an iterative curve fitting algorithm to determine the parameters of the constitutive equations. The effectiveness of the approach is verified through comparisons with other test data and empirical relationships, demonstrating its ability to predict the compressibility and permeability characteristics of dredged slurries with acceptable accuracy.

Electroosmotic Flow Hysteresis for Fluids with Dissimilar pH and Ionic Species

An Eng Lim et al.

Summary: This study investigates the electroosmotic flow behavior of sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3, alkaline) and sodium chloride (NaCl, slightly acidic) solution pair, demonstrating that the displacement process is influenced by the concentration and zeta potential of the solution, with different ion species affecting the EOF behavior.
