Metabolic profiling of phenol biodegradation by an indigenous Rhodococcus pyridinivorans strain PDB9T N-1 isolated from paper pulp wastewater

Manas Barik et al.

Summary: A phenol-degrading actinomycetes strain, identified as Rhodococcus pyridinivorans PDB9TN-1, was isolated from paper pulp wastewater in this study. The strain was capable of completely degrading 1600 mg/L of phenol within 56 hours and removing over 97.5% of total organic carbon (TOC) at an initial phenol concentration of 1000 mg/L.

Bisphenol A Effects in Aqueous Environment on Lemna minor

Cristian-Emilian Pop et al.

Summary: This study explored the toxic effects of BPA on the aquatic plant Lemna minor, identifying colony formation cessation, chlorosis, and high density formation of non-fermenting bacteria and coliforms in exposed cultures. Malondialdehyde levels in the plant tissue indicated cellular insults and damage correlated with HPLC-determined BPA concentrations of 0.1%, 0.2%, and 0.4%.
