Evolution of Overall Cotton Production and Its Determinants: Implications for Developing Countries Using Pakistan Case

Muhammad Umer Arshad et al.

Summary: This study examined multiple factors of cotton production and identified the factors that have inefficiently used over time. It found that the area, seed, and labor are positively related to cotton production, while fertilizer, irrigation, electricity, and machinery are negatively related. The findings suggest that policymakers need to prioritize strategies for the efficient use of inputs in cotton production.

Research on grain production efficiency in China's main grain-producing areas from the perspective of grain subsidy

Dehua Zhang et al.

Summary: This study used the DEA global Malmquist index model to estimate the grain production efficiency of China's main grain-producing regions and found that the overall total factor productivity level was relatively high with regional disparities. Technological progress and pure technical efficiency changes were identified as the main factors affecting grain production efficiency.

Coupling landscape-scale diagnostics surveys, on-farm experiments, and simulation to identify entry points for sustainably closing rice yield gaps in Nepal

Krishna Prasad Devkota et al.

Summary: The study found that there is significant potential to increase rice yields in Nepal by improving factors such as irrigation frequency, rainfall, soil type, soil pH, and fertilizer application rates. Adoption of good agronomic practices can lead to higher productivity and profitability for rice farmers, without compromising environmental performance indicators.
