A multi-objective approach to select hydrological models and constrain structural uncertainties for climate impact assessments

Danny Saavedra et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a simple framework for selecting and evaluating hydrological model structures in catchments with contrasting climatic conditions. The results demonstrate that this framework can produce robust and credible hydrological simulations, and reduce structural uncertainties in projections.

Quantifying the Uncertainty Created by Non-Transferable Model Calibrations Across Climate and Land Cover Scenarios: A Case Study With SWMM

Anneliese Sytsma et al.

Summary: Predictions of urban runoff can be affected by errors caused by changes in calibrated effective model parameters. This calibration parameter transfer uncertainty can undermine the usefulness of urban hydrologic models in important applications. Further research is needed to improve the robustness of predictions using urban hydrologic models.

Automatic Calibration Module for an Urban Drainage System Model

Ivar Annus et al.

Summary: The study introduced an automated module for calibrating urban drainage system models with 12 additional calibration parameters compared to existing solutions. The module included gradient optimization and trial-and-error methods for adjusting parameters simultaneously. The user interface built in MS Excel allows users to select preferred parameters, optimization methods, and value limits for calibration. Testing in two scenarios showed that the module provides a reasonably good fit for hydraulic models with low deviation between modeled and measured flow rates.
