Ultrahigh activity of molybdenum/vanadium-doped Ni-Co phosphides nanoneedles based on ion-exchange for hydrogen evolution at large current density

Zhong-Yuan Lin et al.

Summary: Heteroatom doping is a promising strategy to enhance the electronic structure of transition metal phosphides for improving the hydrogen evolution reaction. A facile ion-exchange strategy was applied to evenly dope Mo/V species into Ni-Co phosphides under mild conditions, resulting in better electronic regulation effect and hydrogen evolution performance. The synergistic effect of Ni-Co phosphides, along with the highly dispersed nanoneedle morphology and optimized electronic structure, led to Mo-NiCoP/NF demonstrating higher activity than Pt/C at high current densities, suggesting potential for developing high-performance catalysts through ion-exchange strategy.

Enhanced Cycle Life and Rate Capability of Single-Crystal, Ni-Rich LiNi0.9Co0.05Mn0.05O2 Enabled by 1,2,4-1H-Triazole Additive

Yue Zou et al.

Summary: A novel electrolyte additive, 1,2,4-1H-triazole (HTZ), was introduced to enhance the interfacial stability and cycle life of LiNi0.9Co0.05Mn0.05O2 (NCM90). HTZ inhibits thermal decomposition of LiPF6 salt and suppresses HF acidic species, leading to the formation of a compact and dense CEI layer. The NCM90 cells with 0.3% HTZ-added electrolyte retain 86.6% of their original capacity after 150 cycles at 30 degrees C.

Recent advances in activating surface reconstruction for the high-efficiency oxygen evolution reaction

Likun Gao et al.

Summary: Recent advancements in the development of cost-effective and high-efficiency transition metal-based electrocatalysts have led to a better understanding of the dynamic reconstruction of surface structures during electrocatalytic water oxidation, especially the anodic oxygen evolution reaction (OER). Through operando and in situ techniques, it has been found that electrocatalysts undergo surface reconstruction to form actual active species during OER in alkaline solution. By exploring issues such as initiators for surface reconstruction and establishing relationships between structure, composition, and electrocatalytic activity, progress has been made in the rational manipulation of in situ catalyst surface reconstruction for the development of high-efficiency electrocatalysts.
