Amplitude Death, Bifurcations, and Basins of Attraction of a Planar Self-Sustained Oscillator with Delayed Feedback

Fabiola G. Prants et al.

Summary: We investigate the nonlinear dynamics of a two-dimensional self-sustained oscillator subject to a delayed feedback and study the effects of amplitude variations. We find that the feedback phase plays a crucial role in suppressing the oscillations, and the phenomenon of amplitude death only occurs in certain ranges of the feedback phase. We analyze the bifurcations of the steady states and show parameter space maps. We also explore the effects of the shear parameter and compute the basins of attraction for the investigated models.

A MEMS Resonant Accelerometer With High Relative Sensitivity Based on Sensing Scheme of Electrostatically Induced Stiffness Perturbation

Hong Ding et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a MEMS resonant accelerometer with high relative sensitivity based on the sensing scheme of electrostatically-induced stiffness perturbation. By lowering the resonant frequency and improving sensitivity through electrostatically-induced stiffness perturbation, the accelerometer shows a much higher relative sensitivity compared to traditional axial force sensing accelerometers. The device demonstrates a differential sensitivity of 297.5 Hz/g and a relative sensitivity of 1.8523 %/g, making it a potentially attractive option for highly-sensitive acceleration measurements.

Differential conductance and spin current in hybrid quantum dot-topological superconducting nanowire

Ke Man Li et al.

Summary: Majorana bound states (MBSs) are topologically protected quantum states that have significant impacts on quantum computing and electron transport. In a hybrid system of nanowire and quantum dot, pure spin current can be generated by modulating the coupling strength and accumulation of spin heat. Coulomb interaction in the quantum dot allows for changing the direction of pure spin current by tuning the dot energy level and coupling strength with MBSs.

Contact-Free MEMS Devices for Reliable and Low-Power Logic Operations

Y. Perrin et al.

Summary: This study presents the experimental proof of concept for a new electromechanical adiabatic logic family that operates without any electrical and mechanical contacts. Utilizing comb-drive actuators and MEMS microfabrication, the logic gates show cascading capabilities up to 170 degrees C and operate in the kilohertz-range under a 4.5 V power supply. Assuming a 100-fold downscaling of the MEMS gates, a dissipation of 0.1 aJ/op (24 k(B)T) at 250 kHz at 45 mV is expected, paving the way for reliable low-power electromechanical digital circuits.
