Summary: This paper explores the quantum anomalies in Type IIB supergravity, finding that they can be cancelled through subtle modifications of the standard 10d Chern-Simons term or via a topological analog of the Green-Schwarz mechanism. These alternative IIB theories share the same low energy supergravity limit as the standard theory but have a different spectrum of extended objects.

Summary: This paper focuses on 1-form symmetries of weakly coupled 6d supersymmetric gauge theories. The study shows that Dirac quantization imposes restrictions on consistent 1-form backgrounds and provides explicit criteria to determine whether the discrete 1-form symmetries are realized. The research is implemented in concrete examples and verified by finding a non-trivial fractional contribution related to the breaking of global 1-form symmetry.

Summary: The focus of this study is on the gravitational and Green-Schwarz type anomalies of chiral and non-chiral p-form gauge fields. These anomalies naturally arise as boundary modes of higher-dimensional bulk topological phases. By computing the Atiyah-Patodi-Singer eta-invariant, we provide a systematic description of the total bulk-boundary system, analogous to the realization of a chiral fermion on the boundary of a massive fermion. The SL(2, Z) anomaly of the 4D Maxwell theory is determined using our formalism, and we also investigate the worldvolume theories of D-branes and M5-branes in different string, M, and F theories.

Summary: This paper discusses a possible Z(24)-valued pure gravitational anomaly in heterotic compactifications and shows that it can be proven to vanish using the theory of topological modular forms, assuming the validity of the Stolz-Teichner conjecture.

Summary: We explored triviality of cobordism classes and anomaly cancellation in supergravity theories in d > 6, leading to the existence of defects called I-folds. The compactification conditions to lower dimensions with these defects being anomaly-free impose restrictions on higher dimensional theories, particularly on the allowed rank of gauge groups. These restrictions explain observed limitations in string theory constructions, with the solutions in eight and nine dimensions matching string theory compactifications.Constraints on the global structure of the gauge group in eight and nine dimensions were also derived using these techniques.

Summary: In this paper, we show how Goldstone bosons can reproduce anomalies of UV theories under the symmetry group G at the nonperturbative level through a general definition of Wess-Zumino-Witten terms. The hidden local symmetry (H) over cap, used to describe Goldstone bosons in the coset construction G/H, plays a crucial role and leads to generalized theta-angles of the hidden local gauge group (H) over cap. This concept is illustrated using SO(N-c) (or Spin(N-c)) QCD-like theories in four dimensions.

Summary: The study proves the absence of parity anomaly in M-theory in the low-energy field theory approximation through computational methods. It determines the generators for the 12-dimensional bordism group of pin manifolds with specific characteristics. The study not only solves a specific problem but also demonstrates various computational techniques and algebraic theories.

Summary: This work implements an extended version of reflection positivity for invertible topological quantum field theories, computes the abelian group of deformation classes using stable homotopy theory, and provides a general formula for symmetry protected topological phases in lattice systems based on field theory considerations. The only inputs required are dimension and symmetry type. Additionally, computations for fermionic systems in physically relevant dimensions are presented, along with discussions on symmetry in quantum field theories and the homotopy theory of relativistic free fermions.

Summary: By studying consistency conditions on worldvolume theory of 3-brane probes, we strengthen Swampland constraints on 8d supergravity theories, leading to strict restrictions on compact internal geometry, gauge algebra, and higher derivative terms. These results provide further evidence for the string lamppost principle in 8d with 16 supercharges.

Summary: This note reviews the role of homotopy groups in determining non-perturbative gauge anomalies, emphasizing that non-vanishing of pi (d) (G) is neither necessary nor sufficient for the existence of global anomalies. Through examples in 6-dimensional gauge theories, it is shown that conditions previously thought to be sufficient for global anomaly cancellation are actually necessary conditions for local anomalies to vanish.
