QED parton distribution functions in the MSHT20 fit

T. Cridge et al.

Summary: We present the MSHT20qed set of parton distribution functions (PDFs) with QED corrections, including photon and neutron PDFs. The results show that the inclusion of QED effects in the PDFs leads to small but significant corrections on other particles and fit quality.

Low moments of the four-loop splitting functions in QCD

S. Moch et al.

Summary: We computed the lowest even -N moments of the splitting functions for the evolution of flavour-singlet parton densities in hadrons at the fourth order in the strong coupling constant alpha(s). The perturbative expansion of these moments is well behaved for momentum fractions x greater than or similar to 0.1, with alpha(s)-coefficients of order one and sub-percent effects on the scale derivatives of the quark and gluon distributions at alpha(s) less than or similar to 0.2. More complex computations, including other approaches like the operator-product expansion, are needed to cover the full x-range relevant to LHC analyses.

A new generation of simultaneous fits to LHC data using deep learning

Shayan Iranipour et al.

Summary: This study presents a new methodology that allows for the simultaneous determination of the Parton Distribution Functions (PDFs) of the proton and any parameters that determine theoretical predictions. The methodology is based on an extension of the NNPDF4.0 neural network architecture, which enables the determination of multiple parameters simultaneously. The study demonstrates the capabilities of this methodology by fitting PDFs with a subset of Wilson coefficients within the Standard Model Effective Field Theory framework, and shows its potential for extension to other precision parameters in the standard model.

Lepton-pair production at hadron colliders at N3LO in QCD

Claude Duhr et al.

Summary: For the first time, we have computed the complete corrections to the strong coupling constant in the inclusive neutral-current Drell-Yan process, taking into account contributions from both photon and Z-boson exchange. Our analysis includes QCD corrections to the inclusive production cross section of an axial-vector boson to third order in strong coupling, considering the effects of non-decoupling of the top-quark mass. We have also presented predictions for the inclusive Drell-Yan process at the LHC, based on this order of QCD perturbation theory.

Theory of Dirac dark matter: Higgs boson decays and EDMs

Pavel Fileviez Perez et al.

Summary: This paper discusses a simple theory that predicts the existence of a Dirac dark matter candidate through gauge anomaly cancellation. The theory is shown to have an upper bound based on the constraint from the relic abundance of dark matter. The correlation between dark matter constraints and the predictions for the electric dipole moment of the electron, as well as the implications for the diphoton decay width of the Standard Model Higgs boson, is studied. The decays of the new Higgs boson in the theory are also investigated, revealing a potentially large branching ratio into two photons. The correlation between dark matter constraints and the properties of the new Higgs boson decays is discussed. This theory could be tested by combining the results from dark matter, collider, and electric dipole moment experiments.

Summary: We present NNPDF4.0, a new set of parton distribution functions (PDFs) based on a global dataset and machine learning techniques. The methodology includes the expansion of the dataset, optimization of hyperparameters, and the implementation of theoretical improvements. The results have been validated through closure tests and analyzed for their dependence on input choices. The implications of NNPDF4.0 on LHC processes have also been studied.

Constraints on the dark photon from deep inelastic scattering

A. W. Thomas et al.

Summary: We investigate constraints on the dark photon arising from deep inelastic scattering data. By extracting parton distribution functions and considering the variations of the dark photon mixing parameter and mass, as well as the effects of vector-meson dominance, exclusion limits on the kinetic mixing parameter of the dark photon are inferred.

Breaking up the Proton: An Affair with Dark Forces

Graham D. Kribs et al.

Summary: The deep inelastic scattering of e(+/-) off protons is sensitive to contributions from dark photon exchange. Utilizing HERA data fit to HERA's parton distribution functions (PDFs), a model-independent bound on the kinetic mixing between hypercharge and the dark photon is obtained, improving on previous bounds. The proposed Large Hadron Electron Collider is anticipated to provide substantial improvements in probing the effects of a dark photon throughout its mass range, including higher masses up to 100 TeV.

The three-loop unpolarized and polarized non-singlet anomalous dimensions from off shell operator matrix elements

J. Bluemlein et al.

Summary: In this study, the unpolarized and polarized three-loop anomalous dimensions and splitting functions in QCD were calculated using the traditional method of space-like off shell massless operator matrix elements in the (MS) over bar scheme. It was found that this is a gauge-dependent framework. Additionally, the three-loop anomalous dimensions for transversity were calculated directly for the first time, and the results were compared to the literature.

Lepton-quark fusion at Hadron colliders, precisely

Admir Greljo et al.

Summary: This study presents the first computation of higher order radiative corrections to the resonant leptoquark production cross section at the LHC, with NLO QCD and QED corrections showing similar size but opposite signs. The NLO K-factors for a wide range of scalar leptoquark masses, flavors, and charges are calculated, while theoretical uncertainties due to scale variations and limited knowledge of parton distribution functions are quantified. The study also discusses the disentanglement of leptoquark flavor interactions through the interplay between different production channels.

Summary: The discussion focused on the impact of new CP-violating interactions in theories predicting dark matter candidates, emphasizing the importance of new sources of CP violation in explaining baryon asymmetry in the Universe. The research indicated that experiments such as the ACME collaboration could fully probe the theory if the relevant CP-violating phase is significant.

Physics with leptons and photons at the LHC

Summary: This study presents a phenomenological investigation of photon-initiated lepton production at the LHC using the structure function approach, providing detailed predictions for multidifferential lepton pair production. The impact on observables sensitive to the weak mixing angle and W boson mass can be significant, with the SF calculation capable of achieving percent level precision in production cross sections. Additionally, the SF approach can be applied to account for LHC precision requirements and provide high precision predictions for photon-initiated lepton-lepton scattering.
