Post-Functionalization of Aromatic C-H Bonds at the Main Chains of π-Conjugated Polymers via Anodic Chlorination Facilitated by Lewis Acids

Tomoyuki Kurioka et al.

Summary: The electrochemical aromatic C-H chlorination of pi-conjugated polymers using aluminum chloride (AlCl3) was demonstrated in this study, showing that the AlCl3/MeCN system exhibited greater oxidation tolerance compared to other electrolyte systems. The optoelectronic properties and aggregation behavior of the precursor polymers were substantially changed after chlorination, indicating the potential for this method to modify the properties of pi-conjugated polymers.

A Ca-Ion Electrochromic Battery via a Water-in-Salt Electrolyte

Zhongqiu Tong et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates a new aqueous Ca-ion electrochromic battery (CIEB) using Ca-ion carriers and a water-in-salt (WIS) Ca(OTF)(2) electrolyte for the first time. By utilizing vanadium oxide (VOx) and indium hexacyanoferrate (InHCF) films as anode and cathode, the CIEB shows stable high-rate performance and greenish yellow-to-black electrochromism. The results provide insights into redox kinetics in WIS electrolytes and inspire research on batteries and electrochromism with multivalent-ions.
