Signatures of the charge density wave collective mode in the infrared optical response of VSe2

Xuanbo Feng et al.

Summary: In this study, a detailed investigation on the bulk electronic structure of high-quality VSe2 single crystals using optical spectroscopy was conducted. The optical conductivity of VSe2 undergoes significant rearrangement below the critical temperature of 112 K, involving the suppression of the Drude response and the appearance of a new interband transition. Additionally, below the critical temperature, infrared active phonons associated with the 4a x 4a lattice reconstruction are observed to emerge.

Interplay of crystal thickness and in-plane anisotropy and evolution of quasi-one-dimensional electronic character in ReSe2

Lewis S. Hart et al.

Summary: The study investigates the valence band structure of ReSe2 crystals as the thickness decreases, showing a decrease in the width of the top valence band with decreasing number of layers. This suggests a progressively more one-dimensional character of electronic states in few-layer rhenium dichalcogenides.
