Mechanical Properties and Biocompatibility of Urethane Acrylate-Based 3D-Printed Denture Base Resin

Jy-Jiunn Tzeng et al.

Summary: In this study, five urethane acrylates were used to formulate photopolymer resins for DLP-based 3D printing, with tunable mechanical properties achieved by changing the UA materials and UV exposure times. After 15 min of UV exposure, differences in viscosities were observed among different UA groups. Significant variations in maximum flexural strength, flexural modulus, and Shore hardness values were also noted, indicating the potential of aliphatic urethane acrylate for printable resin design in dental applications.

Cytotoxic and cytocompatible comparison among seven photoinitiators-triggered polymers in different tissue cells

Boning Zeng et al.

Summary: The study investigated the cytotoxicity and cytocompatibility of seven commercial and industrial-used photoinitiators, with BAPO showing the highest toxicity, while TPOL and MBF demonstrated the lowest toxicity. The findings suggest that TPOL may be more promising for clinical applications due to its superior cytocompatibility and transparency compared to other photoinitiators.

Functionalized acrylic polyhydroxy urethanes as molecular tool box for Photocurable thermosets and 3D printing

Hannah Buchheit et al.

Summary: Liquid urethane (meth)acrylates, derived from acrylic polyhydroxy urethanes, are tailored in this study to meet the demands of 3D printing applications. By functionalizing hydroxy groups using different methods, tetrafunctional methacrylates are obtained, leading to photo-cured thermosets with improved stiffness and crosslinking density. This molecular UMA design allows for control over functionality and thermoset properties, making it suitable for a wide range of applications in 3D printing.
