Basic performance and asphalt smoke absorption effect of environment-friendly asphalt to improve pavement construction environment

Chaohui Wang et al.

Summary: This study aims to reduce harmful emissions during the high-temperature construction of hot mix asphalt mixture and improve the construction environment. GO/KT-modified asphalt was prepared using tourmaline, graphene oxide, and a silane coupling agent. The study analyzed the modified asphalt's microstructure, chemical components, and evaluated its adsorption effect on asphalt smoke. The results suggest that GO/KT composite can improve asphalt performance and reduce smoke emissions by 41.11%.

Temperature characteristics of permeable asphalt pavement: Field research

Rong Lu et al.

Summary: This study aims to understand the influences of environmental conditions on the patterns of temperature distribution in permeable asphalt pavement (PAP) and dense asphalt pavement (DAP). The results demonstrate that temperatures in PAP were 1 to 6 degrees Celsius higher than DAP on rainless days. The heat storage and dissipation efficiency of PAP within a depth range of 4 to 40 cm were better than that of DAP.

Experimental study of the performance of porous ultra-thin asphalt overlay

Wei Jiang et al.

Summary: The study found that in Porous ultra-thin asphalt overlay (PUAO), as the air voids increased, the high-temperature rutting dynamic stability decreased, the tensile strength ratio first decreased and then increased, and the acoustic absorption coefficient gradually increased, but the peak frequency value shifted. The PUAO/AC-13 double-layer specimens showed better performance in dynamic stability and low-temperature bending strength compared to the PUAO single-layer specimens, but had a smaller permeability coefficient. The International Friction Index results showed that PUAO material had excellent skid resistance performance.

Effect of Different Creep and Recovery Times on the MSCR Test for Highly Modified Asphalt Binder

Matheus S. Gaspar et al.

Summary: The development of the multiple stress creep and recovery (MSCR) test has improved the evaluation of rutting susceptibility of asphalt binders. However, the current test protocol's creep and recovery times may not be adequate for predicting performance under extreme traffic conditions for highly modified binders. Longer creep and recovery times had a significant impact on the MSCR test for a highly modified asphalt binder, indicating the need for further investigation to refine the test protocol and criteria for slow or standing traffic.
