Mandibular ramus height and condyle distance asymmetries in individuals with different facial growth patterns: a cone-beam computed tomography study

Christian Reis Lemes et al.

Summary: The study aimed to quantify mandibular ramus height and condylar distances asymmetry indexes in adult patients with different vertical facial growth patterns using Cone Beam computed tomography (CBCT). The results showed significantly lower mandibular ramus height in individuals with a hyperdivergent skeletal pattern, but no statistically significant differences in condylar and intercondylar distances among different facial groups. Asymmetry indexes for mandibular ramus height and condylar distance were similar regardless of the skeletal patterns.

Growth trends analysis of unilateral condylar hyperplasia followed up with planar scintigraphy Retrospective overview of 249 cases

Pingan Liu et al.

Summary: This retrospective study investigated the growth trends of unilateral condylar hyperplasia and found that more than half of patients exhibit constant or progressive growth, while less than half show regressive trends. Gender seems to play a role in growth patterns, but age and duration of follow-up do not show significant correlations.

Panoramic Radiograph and CBCT in Unilateral Mandibular Condylar Hyperplasia-A Case Report

A. Rizwana et al.

Summary: Condylar hyperplasia of the mandible is a rare developmental disorder that mainly affects females, often occurring unilaterally and being self-limiting. This case report highlights the importance of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in the diagnosis and assessment of mandibular condylar hyperplasia, presenting a case of a 35-year-old female patient with unilateral condylar hyperplasia.

Mandibular condylar remodeling characteristics after simultaneous condylectomy and orthognathic surgery

Alexis Leigh Gallagher et al.

Summary: This study evaluated postsurgical condylar remodeling, condylar volumetric asymmetry, and soft tissue symmetry after unilateral high condylectomy and bimaxillary osteotomies. Radiographic signs of degenerative changes were noted in both surgical and nonsurgical condyles, with an average volumetric improvement of 531.9 mm(3) and soft tissue symmetry improvement of 65.8%. Despite remaining joint asymmetry, soft tissue correction was stable 1-year post-surgery.
