Dependence of the Nonlinear Photoacoustic Response of Gold Nanoparticles on the Heat-Transfer Process

Jian-Ping Sun et al.

Summary: This study investigates the effect of heat-transfer ability on the nonlinear PA response of gold nanoparticles (GNPs) using the critical energy and fluence concept. The results show that the stronger the heat transferability, the smaller the critical energy, and the critical fluence can directly contrast the proportion of nonlinear components in the PA response of different GNPs.

Photoacoustic response optimization of gold nanorods in the near-infrared region

Jian-Ping Sun et al.

Summary: Photoacoustic imaging benefits from the use of gold nanorods as contrast agents. The size change of gold nanorods affects their absorption, heat transfer, and photoacoustic characteristics. Increasing the specific surface area enhances thermal coupling and improves heat transfer, while absorption characteristics determine the photothermal and photoacoustic responses. Therefore, improving absorption characteristics is more important than increasing specific surface area, and increasing specific surface area can enhance the photostability of gold nanorods.

Multiphoton Photoluminescence in Hybrid Plasmon-Fiber Cavities with Au and Au@Pd Nanobipyramids: Two-Photon versus Four-Photon Processes and Rapid Quenching

Qi Ai et al.

Summary: The research explores the multiphoton photoluminescence (MPPL) characteristics of bare and palladium-capped gold nanobipyramid particles deposited on microfibers. The study shows that four-photon photoluminescence (4PPL) and two-photon photoluminescence (2PPL) are key components of the broad luminescence emission, with different polarization characteristics. The L-band-related 4PPL emission is quenched for Au@Pd nanobipyramids due to the fast transfer of electrons, offering a new method of modifying photoluminescence in coupled hybrid bimetallic nanostructures.
