Effect of Isometric Hip Abduction on Foot and Ankle Muscle Activity and Medial Longitudinal Arch During Short-Foot Exercise in Individuals With Pes Planus

Jung-Hoon Choi et al.

Summary: The study examined the effects of isometric hip abduction (IHA) on muscle activity and medial longitudinal arch (MLA) angle during short-foot exercise (SFE) in individuals with pes planus. Results showed that IHA significantly increased the activity of the AbdH muscle while decreasing the activity of the TA muscle. Additionally, muscle activity of Gmed and PL was significantly increased in the standing position compared to sitting, regardless of the presence of IHA.

Effects of intrinsic-foot-muscle exercise combined with the lower extremity resistance training on postural stability in older adults with fall risk: study protocol for a randomised controlled trial

Zhangqi Lai et al.

Summary: This study aims to investigate the effects of a 12-week intrinsic foot muscle exercise on postural stability in older adults with fall risk. The study will include IFM group, EFM group, and control group, with outcome measures such as postural stability measurements and number of falls. The results will provide scientific evidence for comprehensive fall prevention intervention strategies.

Perturbation-based exercise for prevention of low-back pain in adolescent athletes

Adamantios Arampatzis et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the effectiveness of a perturbation-based exercise intervention in preventing chronic non-specific low-back pain in adolescent athletes over one year. The intervention led to a reduction in low-back pain incidence, decreased pain intensity, increased muscle strength, and a reduction in muscle strength imbalances. Specific trunk muscle interventions are necessary for preventing low-back pain in athletes.
