Statics and dynamics of skyrmions interacting with disorder and nanostructures

C. Reichhardt et al.

Summary: Magnetic skyrmions are topologically stable nanoscale particlelike objects that have attracted intense research interest due to their potential applications. Understanding the effects of pinning or disorder on the static and dynamic states of skyrmions is crucial for their use in practical applications.

Thickness dependence of interfacial Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, magnetic anisotropy and spin waves damping in Pt/Co/Ir and Ir/Co/Pt trilayers

A. K. Dhiman et al.

Summary: Asymmetric Ir/Co/Pt and Pt/Co/Ir trilayers were deposited on Si substrates with a Ta/Au buffer by magnetron sputtering. The study used magneto-optical polar Kerr effect and Brillouin light scattering (BLS) technique to investigate their magnetic properties, revealing a frequency asymmetry between Stokes and anti-Stokes peaks position, with DS nearly two times larger for Ir/Co/Pt trilayer than for the Pt/Co/Ir trilayer. Effective uniaxial magnetic anisotropy and DS showed a non-monotonic dependence on Co thickness d, with a maximum at d approximately 1.2 nm.

Visualizing the strongly reshaped skyrmion Hall effect in multilayer wire devices

Anthony K. C. Tan et al.

Summary: Researchers have found that skyrmions in dense arrays in Pt/Co/MgO wires exhibit robust dynamic characteristics, with high speeds and sensitivity of SkHE to skyrmion size, but influenced by other factors. This establishes a solid framework for manipulating SkHE to achieve high-throughput skyrmion motion.
