In silico analysis of SARS-CoV-2 proteins as targets for clinically available drugs

Wallace K. B. Chan et al.

Summary: This study developed a virtual screening method to identify FDA-approved drugs with potential activity against SARS-CoV-2. The study found 17 high-confidence and 97 medium-confidence drug-site pairs and identified six compounds with stable binding poses at their target proteins through molecular dynamics simulations.

Targeted therapy strategies against SARS-CoV-2 cell entry mechanisms: A systematic review of in vitro and in vivo studies

Simin Seyedpour et al.

Summary: This study systematically evaluated recent in vitro and in vivo investigations targeting SARS-CoV-2 cell entry, finding that SARS-CoV-2 primarily enters host cells through the S protein utilizing ACE2 or CD147 as receptors. Targeted therapy strategies against SARS-CoV-2 cell entry mechanisms mainly focus on targeting virus receptors on the host, neutralizing spike protein, interfering with virus fusion to host cells, and disrupting endosomal and non-endosomal dependent pathways.

Efficacy of Ceftazidime and Cefepime in the Management of COVID-19 Patients: Single Center Report from Egypt

Ragaey A. Eid et al.

Summary: This study investigates the efficacy of using cefepime and ceftazidime in treating patients with COVID-19, finding that both antibiotics show good inhibitory activity towards SARS-CoV-2, with short recovery times and minimal side effects. They can effectively manage moderate and severe cases of COVID-19.
