An updated population status of Astor Markhor (Capra falconeri falconeri) in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan

Jibran Haider et al.

Summary: This study aimed to collect reliable data on the population status of Astor Markhor in Gilgit-Baltistan, Northern Pakistan. Using a fixed-point direct count method, the study estimated the population and density of Astor Markhor, with suggestions for strict regulation of trophy hunting based on robust population data. Results showed stable population with presence of adult males and trophy-sized males, highlighting the importance of obtaining population data through reliable methods.
