Permeability prediction of heterogeneous carbonate gas condensate reservoirs applying group method of data handling

Masoud Zanganeh Kamali et al.

Summary: In this study, a robust machine learning model is applied to predict permeability for heterogeneous carbonate gas condensate reservoirs. The developed models outperform established empirical correlations in predicting permeability. The GMDH model achieves the best performance in permeability prediction accuracy using phi, S-wir, and Sp as input variables.

Estimating shear wave velocity in carbonate reservoirs from petrophysical logs using intelligent algorithms

Mohammad Mehrad et al.

Summary: Shear-wave velocity (Vs) is a key petrophysical data in the upstream oil industry, but it is often difficult to acquire the corresponding log. This study presents a high-accuracy and high-generalizability model, using cuckoo optimization algorithm and convolutional neural network, to predict Vs from logging data. The method shows better generalizability and accuracy compared to traditional empirical equations.

A novel approach to pore pressure modeling based on conventional well logs using convolutional neural network

Morteza Matinkia et al.

Summary: Accurate prediction of pore pressure (PP) is crucial for drilling operation design. This paper proposes an integrated workflow combining analytic equations and intelligent algorithms to estimate PP, and conducts an empirical study in two oil fields in Iran. The results demonstrate that the models based on intelligent algorithms outperform conventional analytic models in terms of accuracy and generalizability.

Mohammad Sabah et al.

Summary: The study combines two machine learning techniques and three heuristic algorithms to develop hybrid models for predicting lost circulation. Results show that LSSVM-COA and LSSVM-PSO are the most accurate models in predicting lost circulation. Hybrid intelligent models outperform standalone machine learning methodologies in predicting loss of circulation.

Effective moduli of rocks predicted by the Kuster-Toksoz and Mori-Tanaka models

Zidong Wang et al.

Summary: Natural rocks are complex polymineral composites with strong heterogeneities that affect the estimation of effective moduli. The Kuster-Toksoz (KT) model and the Mori-Tanaka (MT) model differ in their accuracy and applicability in predicting effective moduli of isotropic rocks. The MT model is more accurate for predicting effective moduli of medium with ellipsoidal pores, and its applicability is wider compared to the KT model.
