This article typifies Chloris montana based on morphological study and illustration from Roxburgh's Icon stored at CAL herbarium. Chloris telanganae is now considered a new heterotypic synonym of C. montana. The variability in morphological characters of several species, including C. montana, C. bournei, C. wightiana, and C. quinquesetica, is discussed in detail in Table 1 and a separate section. Additionally, an updated key for species identification in India is provided.
