Association between baseline and changes in high-sensitive C-reactive protein and metabolic syndrome: a nationwide cohort study and meta-analysis

Qingping Xue et al.

Summary: The study aimed to investigate the association between baseline and changes in high-density C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and the occurrence of metabolic syndrome (MetS). The findings suggest that both higher baseline hs-CRP and longitudinal hs-CRP increases are associated with higher risks of incident MetS.

Prevalences of metabolic syndrome and its sex-specific association with socioeconomic status in rural China: a cross-sectional study

Xuhua Ying et al.

Summary: The study found a relatively high prevalence of metabolic syndrome (MS) in rural Chinese adults, with females more likely to be affected than males. Risk factors for MS included being elderly, having lower income, lower education level, and being unemployed, with females at higher risk. There were sex-specific associations between socioeconomic status and MS.

Changes in metabolic syndrome affect the health-related quality of life of community-dwelling adults

Yi-Hsuan Lin et al.

Summary: Metabolic syndrome has a negative impact on mental health-related quality of life, particularly in terms of vitality and mental well-being. Women and overweight adults are more vulnerable to the detrimental effects of persistent MetS. It is important to allocate more resources to reversing MetS for better HRQOL in public health.

Interaction between major dietary patterns and cardiorespiratory fitness on metabolic syndrome in Iranian adults: a cross-sectional study

Hossein Shahinfar et al.

Summary: This study investigated the combined association of major dietary patterns and CRF on MetS and its components. It found a significant positive association between the mixed dietary pattern and MetS, but no significant interaction between any of dietary patterns and CRF on the odds of MetS.
