Effect of Steam Treatment on the Properties of Mordenite and Its Catalytic Performance in a DME Carbonylation Reaction

Feng Xu et al.

Summary: A steam treatment method was used to prepare dealuminated mordenite samples with different acidities and porosities. The treatment had different effects on Na-MOR and H-MOR, preserving the structure of Na-MOR while damaging the structure of H-MOR. Na-MOR showed enhanced catalytic performance in DME carbonylation reaction, with increased microporous volume and acid sites, while H-MOR exhibited decreased activity but improved stability.

Biodiesel Upgrading to Renewable Diesel over Nickel Supported on Natural Mordenite Catalysts

Konstantina Fani et al.

Summary: In this study, natural mordenite was activated by acid treatment to serve as a catalyst support for Ni catalysts. The catalysts synthesized using the deposition-precipitation method showed the highest efficiency in biodiesel upgrading, with almost complete conversion and production of the highest amount of green diesel. This was attributed to enhanced specific surface area, better nickel dispersion, and reduced carbon deposits on the catalyst surface.

Enhancing the Catalytic Properties of Mordenites via an Alkali-Acid Treatment and by Loading Nickel-Cerium during o-Ethyltoluene Isomerization

Xiaoyan Cao et al.

Summary: The treatment of commercial mordenites resulted in the formation of micro-mesoporous mordenites, which increased the yield of isomerization products and lowered the reaction temperature. Loading Ni and Ce onto the micro-mesoporous mordenite successfully extended the catalytic life.
