A FRACTAL MODEL FOR CAPILLARY FLOW THROUGH A SINGLE TORTUOUS CAPILLARY WITH ROUGHENED SURFACES IN FIBROUS POROUS MEDIA

Boqi Xiao et al.

Summary: In this study, a fractal model for capillary flow through a single tortuous capillary with roughened surfaces in fibrous porous media was derived. The results of the model were found to be in agreement with existing models in the literature. It was observed that the imbibition height and mass of capillary rise decrease with increasing relative roughness, while the equilibrium time in the capillary decreases with increasing roughness. Additionally, the imbibition height and mass of capillary rise were found to increase with imbibition time.

A fractal permeability model for the dual-porosity media of tight gas reservoirs

Fanhui Zeng et al.

Summary: This paper establishes a permeability model after fracturing by considering matrix permeability and stress sensitivity, and finds that fracture permeability is much higher than capillary permeability. It also reveals that water saturation, stress sensitivity, and real gas effect can affect permeability, and parameters of the tree-like fractal structure have a significant impact on permeability.

Controlling Factor Analysis of Microstructural Property and Storage Capacity of Deep Longmaxi Formation Shale in Sichuan Basin

Jianchao Cai et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the quantitative characterization of fluid storage and structural properties of deep Longmaxi Formation shale samples from southern Sichuan Basin. Experiments including nuclear magnetic resonance and nitrogen adsorption are conducted to analyze pore distribution complexity and pore surface irregularity, which are controlled by factors such as stratigraphic division and shale composition. The research findings suggest that the storage capacity and microstructural properties of deep shales are influenced by stratigraphic division and shale composition.

A FRACTAL MODEL FOR PREDICTING THE EFFECTIVE THERMAL CONDUCTIVITY OF ROUGHENED POROUS MEDIA WITH MICROSCALE EFFECT

Boqi Xiao et al.

Summary: A fractal analytical model was proposed to describe the effective thermal conductivity of roughened porous media with microscale effect. The study found that the dimensionless ETC decreases with certain parameters such as relative roughness and fractal dimensions, while it increases with the thermal conductivity ratio of gas phase over solid phase. The fractal model provided clear physical interpretations for heat transport mechanisms in RPM.

Summary: This paper studies the heat and mass transfer performance of tree-like branching networks, proposes a model of spontaneous imbibition with fractal roughened surfaces, and analyzes the influence of structural parameters on the imbibition process. The results show that variations in different parameters have different effects on the imbibition height and equilibrium height.

A NOVEL FRACTAL MODEL FOR THE INVASION DEPTH OF FLUID THROUGH THE TORTUOUS CAPILLARY BUNDLE WITH ROUGHENED SURFACES IN POROUS MEDIA

Jun Gao et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel fractal model to quantitatively characterize the invasion depth of fluid through tortuous capillary bundle with roughened surfaces in porous media, taking into account the capillary pressure effect. The model is expressed as a function of various structure parameters and the effect of relative roughness on invasion depth is discussed. Experimental data confirms the accuracy of the proposed model, with each parameter having a clear physical meaning contributing to a better understanding of seepage mechanisms.
