The effects of cotton cellulose on both energy band gap of g-C3N4-TiO2 nanoparticles and enhanced photocatalytic properties of cotton-g-C3N4-TiO2 composites

Wenjun Li et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated the recycling and efficient utilization of powdered photocatalysts by loading them on supporting materials. The construction of a g-C3N4-TiO2 heterojunction on cotton fibers improved photocatalytic performance, with the cotton increasing the energy band gap of the nanocomposites. The self-cleaning experiments showed the modified cotton fabrics could effectively remove organic contaminants multiple times.

Highly efficient photocatalytic oxidation of antibiotic ciprofloxacin using TiO2@g-C3N4@biochar composite

Guanghui Wang et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel TiO2@g-C3N4@biochar composite photocatalyst was successfully fabricated and characterized. The composite photocatalyst exhibited high photocatalytic oxidation activity for ciprofloxacin (CIP) under UV-vis and visible light irradiation. The photocatalytic removal performance of CIP was influenced by the initial concentration, catalyst dosage, and pH value, and the composite photocatalyst showed excellent stability and reusability. The proposed mechanism of the CIP photocatalytic oxidation reaction provides an effective strategy for removing antibiotics in wastewater.

g-C3N4/TiO2 nanocomposite photocatalyst for methylene blue photodegradation under visible light

Mohd Hasmizam Razali et al.

Summary: In this research, g-C3N4/TiO2 nanocomposite was prepared using a hydrothermal method and used as a photocatalyst for dye degradation. The characterization of g-C3N4/TiO2 showed the presence of anatase and rutile phases of TiO2 and layered structure of g-C3N4. The nanocomposite demonstrated higher photocatalytic activity compared to pure g-C3N4 and TiO2, degrading the dye under visible light.

Electrospun Adsorptive Nanofibrous Membranes from Ion Exchange Polymers to Snare Textile Dyes from Wastewater

Levente Cseri et al.

Summary: The study proposes electrospun nanofibrous polyimides enhanced with ion exchange properties as adsorptive membranes for dye-loaded textile wastewater treatment. By synthesizing carboxyl-functionalized porous polyimides and further decorating them with strong cation and anion exchange side groups, the membranes show promising potential in environmental applications. The results suggest that these membranes are promising candidates for the treatment of dye-laden wastewater due to their facile syntheses and unique properties.

Direct Ink Writing of Hierarchically Porous Cellulose/Alginate Monolithic Hydrogel as a Highly Effective Adsorbent for Environmental Applications

Jun Yuan et al.

Summary: A simple method for designing printable cellulose-based inks by adding sodium alginate (SA) to the formulation was proposed in this study, and hierarchically porous cellulose/alginate monolithic hydrogel (CAH) for highly effective adsorption of methylene blue (MB) was manufactured. Characterization results confirmed the successful preparation of CAH and identified hydrogen bond interaction and electrostatic interaction as the dominant mechanisms for MB removal onto CAH. The results suggest that the 3D-printed CAH could be a high-potential material for environmental applications.

Carboxylic Acid-Terminated Carbon Nanoflakes for Selective Adsorption of Water-Soluble Cationic Dyes

Chumki Dalal et al.

Summary: Carbon-based nanomaterials, particularly carboxylic acid-terminated carbon nanoflakes (CNFs), exhibit excellent adsorption capabilities for water-soluble cationic dyes. The adsorption process can be regulated by adjusting parameters like pH, initial dye concentration, temperature, and CNFs concentration, and the CNFs have shown superiority over activated charcoal for dye adsorption.
