CO2 utilization as a supercritical solvent and supercritical antisolvent in production of sertraline hydrochloride nanoparticles

Gholamhossein Sodeifian et al.

Summary: SCF processes were used to fabricate sertraline hydrochloride nanoparticles, with GAS showing superiority over RESS-SC in reducing the particle size and increasing dissolution rates. Experimental design was employed to find the optimal combination of conditions for achieving the smallest particle size. The physical and chemical properties were studied using various analyses such as FTIR, FESEM, DLS, XRD, and DSC.

An investigation into Sunitinib malate nanoparticle production by US- RESOLV method: Effect of type of polymer on dissolution rate and particle size distribution

Fariba Razmimanesh et al.

Summary: In this study, ultrasonic-assisted rapid expansion of supercritical CO2 solution into a liquid solvent (US-RESOLV) process was utilized for the synthesis of Sunitinib malate nanoparticles (NPs) for the first time. Various hydrophilic polymers were used to modify the size distribution and enhance the dissolution rate of the NPs, with PEG identified as the best polymer for controlling particle size distribution and HPMC as the best polymeric stabilizer for increasing drug particle dissolution rate. The synthesized particles were significantly smaller (< 600 nm) compared to unprocessed particles, and the combination of smaller sizes, ultrasonication, and polymer presence led to an enhanced dissolution rate of Sunitinib malate in aqueous media.

Gholamhossein Sodeifian et al.

Summary: This study presents the first measurement of the solubility of Quetiapine hemifumarate in supercritical carbon dioxide, using various models to accurately determine the solubility data. Among all models, the Garlapati - Madras model showed the best performance, while thermodynamic quantities of solvation and sublimation enthalpies were also estimated.

Measurement and modeling of solubility of gliclazide (hypoglycemic drug) and captopril (antihypertension drug) in supercritical carbon dioxide

Shin-Wei Wang et al.

Summary: The solubility of drugs in supercritical carbon dioxide (ScCO2) was measured using a semi-flow apparatus, and the data were correlated with various models to validate their accuracy. By combining the Peng-Robinson equation of state (PR EOS) with different mixing rules, accurate solubility predictions were achieved for the drugs studied.
