Insights into the electric double-layer capacitance of two-dimensional electrically conductive metal-organic frameworks

Jamie W. Gittins et al.

Summary: Two-dimensional electrically conductive metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) have shown promising potential for use in electric double-layer capacitors (EDLCs). The study found that the capacitive performance of these nearly isostructural MOFs is largely independent of the identity of the metal node and organic linker molecule. The performance of EDLCs is uniquely defined by the 3D structure of the electrodes and the electrolyte, with limitations in stable double-layer voltage window and capacitance retention compared to traditional electrode materials.
