Long lasting protective effects of early L-arginine treatment on endothelium in an in vitro study

Elena Galluccio et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the protective effect of L-arginine on endothelial dysfunction caused by excessive nutrient supply. The results showed that L-arginine pretreatment can reduce apoptosis, acidosis, oxidative and nitrosative stress, arginase activity, and AGE accumulation. L-arginine pretreatment regulates STAB1/RAGE gene expression levels to decrease AGEs generation and accumulation, as well as reduce excessive activation of arginase involved in endothelial dysfunction.

AGE-Rich Bread Crust Extract Boosts Oxidative Stress Interception via Stimulation of the NRF2 Pathway

Kristin Waechter et al.

Summary: Research showed that bread crust extract (BCE) activates antioxidant gene expression through the NRF2 signaling pathway, inducing the expression of antioxidative genes and enhancing cell resistance to oxidative stress, ultimately protecting tissues from oxidative stress-induced injury.

Praznik: High performance information-based feature selection

Miron B. Kursa

Summary: Information filters are a significant class of feature selection methods that combine strong theoretical background, execution speed, and high selection quality. Praznik, an R package, gathers efficient implementations of these methods and showcases its functionality through illustrative example analyses on established benchmark datasets, highlighting competitive accuracy and very high computational efficiency compared to other tools. Additionally, Praznik exposes its low-level functionality to support the research and development of novel information theory-based methods.

The Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter-2 Inhibitor Canagliflozin Alleviates Endothelial Dysfunction Following In Vitro Vascular Ischemia/Reperfusion Injury in Rats

Sevil Korkmaz-Icoez et al.

Summary: This study showed that adding the SGLT-2 inhibitor canagliflozin to saline can protect vascular grafts from ischemia/reperfusion injury, and significantly improve endothelial dysfunction.
