Restudy of the original and new materials of Stromatoolithus pinglingensis and discussion on some Spheroolithidae eggs

Xufeng Zhu et al.

Summary: This study conducted a reanalysis of the rarely known Chinese oospecies, Stromatoolithus pinglingensis, and compared the eggshell structures with other known oofamilies. The findings suggest that a new oofamily may be needed due to the unique characteristics of this ootaxon. Additionally, some previously classified eggs from different regions were proposed to be reassigned under the oogenus Stromatoolithus.

Intracascaral space an eggshell structure of Caiman latirostris eggs

Mila Piazza et al.

Summary: In recent decades, researchers have studied eggshells from large-bodied reptiles to describe their structures, compare them to extinct lineages, and understand their role in providing specific conditions for embryo development. This study focuses on describing a previously unidentified structure in C. latirostris eggshells and hypothesizes about its potential functions during incubation and embryonic development.

Complex macroevolutionary dynamics underly the evolution of the crocodyliform skull

Ryan N. Felice et al.

Summary: Modern crocodyliforms have conservative skull morphology but exhibit complex macroevolutionary dynamics. The pace of crocodyliform cranial evolution is initially high, slows near the base of Neosuchia, and has a late burst of rapid evolution in crown-group crocodiles. Despite low phenotypic variation, modern crocodyliforms, especially in certain regions, have high rates of evolution, leading to significant convergence.

The Tetrapod Fossil Record from the Uppermost Maastrichtian of the Ibero-Armorican Island: An Integrative Review Based on the Outcrops of the Western Tremp Syncline (Aragon, Huesca Province, NE Spain)

Manuel Perez-Pueyo et al.

Summary: The South-Pyrenean Basin in northeastern Spain has a diverse record of Upper Cretaceous vertebrate fossils, including the remains of some of the last European dinosaurs before the K-Pg extinction event. The Western Tremp Syncline in the Aragonese area of the Southern Pyrenees contains sedimentary units dated to the late Maastrichtian, with fossil remains of dinosaurs, crocodylomorphs, pterosaurs, and other tetrapods. This site is one of the best places in Europe to study the latest vertebrate assemblages before the end-Cretaceous mass extinction.
