Cognition-immune interactions between executive function and working memory, tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha) and soluble TNF receptors (sTNFR1 and sTNFR2) in bipolar disorder

Robson Zazula et al.

Summary: The study found that patients with bipolar disorder performed significantly worse in working memory tasks and had higher TNF-alpha levels. There were significant correlations between sTNFR2 and neurocognitive tasks, as well as between sTNFR1 and symptoms of mania, depression, and anxiety among BD participants.

Neurostructural phenotypes of CACNA1C rs1006737 in adolescents with bipolar disorder and healthy controls

Daniel O. Shonibare et al.

Summary: The study investigated the effects of CACNA1C rs1006737 on neurostructural phenotypes in Caucasian adolescents with bipolar disorder. Results showed significant interactions in prefrontal and occipital regions, as well as differences in ACC and occipital SA between A-carriers and non-carriers. Further investigation into the functional and cognitive implications of rs1006737 associations with BD-specific elevations in regional SA is needed.

Adverse Childhood Experiences and Neurocognition in Schizophrenia Spectrum Disorders: Age at First Exposure and Multiplicity Matter

Justyna Kasznia et al.

Summary: The study suggests that the multiplicity and younger age at first exposure of adverse childhood experiences are key factors contributing to cognitive impairments observed in schizophrenia spectrum disorders. Furthermore, adverse childhood experiences may have differential impacts on cognition in patients with schizophrenia spectrum disorders and healthy controls.
