Revisiting the passive biocover system at Klintholm landfill, six years after construction

C. Scheutz et al.

Summary: A biocover system established at Klintholm landfill in Denmark in 2009 showed efficient mitigation of methane emissions even after 6 years, with the methane oxidation potential and methane emissions remaining similar to the initial measurements after implementation.

Trace gas composition in landfill gas at Danish landfills receiving low-organic waste

Zhenhan Duan et al.

Summary: This study investigated trace gas composition in landfill gas at modern Danish landfills, finding that the highest trace gas concentrations were in shredder waste cells, which contained aliphatic hydrocarbons and aromatics. Lower concentrations of trace gases were found in mixed and aged waste cells, dominated by hydrogen sulphide and aliphatic hydrocarbons. The study estimated the production rates of BTEXs in 2020 from two landfills, which were not considered to pose a significant risk to the environment or human health.

Mitigation of methane and trace gas emissions through a large-scale active biofilter system at Glatved landfill, Denmark

Zhenhan Duan et al.

Summary: A biofilter system was constructed at Glatved landfill in Denmark, with nearly 100% mitigation efficiencies for both CH4 and trace gases. The system showed potential to work under higher loads and effectively degraded various compounds in different zones.
