Three-dimensional polypyrrole induced high-performance flexible piezoelectric nanogenerators for mechanical energy harvesting

Songhan Shi et al.

Summary: This work presents the fabrication of high-performance FPNGs based on all-organic composite thin films, which exhibit excellent ferroelectric and piezoelectric properties. By introducing conductive polymers into the matrix, the weak interactions and interfacial defects between the fillers and matrix are overcome, improving the flexibility and electromechanical properties of the composites and achieving considerable piezoelectric outputs.

A lead-free flexible piezoelectric-triboelectric hybrid nanogenerator composed of uniquely designed PVDF/KNN-ZS nanofibrous web

Swagata Banerjee et al.

Summary: With the increasing demand for eco-friendly small-scale energy harvesting technologies, piezoelectric energy harvesting is becoming more popular. This study synthesized a metal-doped piezoelectric filler and incorporated it into a PVDF matrix to create a nanocomposite fibrous web. By optimizing the filler loading, the structural and morphological properties were improved. A nanogenerator was fabricated using the PVDF/3% filler, which exhibited piezoelectric output voltage and current. Interestingly, the nanogenerator also demonstrated a combined triboelectric and piezoelectric effect. The harvested electrical charge can be accumulated and used to power small-scale electronics.
