Assessment of the Use of NaClO as an Alternative to H2O2 in the Oxidant-Titanium Ore-Simulated Solar Light System for Thiabendazole Degradation

Melisa Portilla-Sangabriel et al.

Summary: In this study, the use of NaClO as an alternative oxidant to H2O2 in a photo-Fenton like system for degrading thiabendazole was investigated. Results showed that NaClO achieved faster degradation and better removal of pollutants compared to H2O2.

Pesticide occurrence and water quality assessment from an agriculturally influenced Latin-American tropical region

Didier Ramirez-Morales et al.

Summary: The monitoring study conducted in three agriculturally influenced microcatchments in Costa Rica from 2012 to 2014 found multiple pesticides in water samples and mainly insecticides in sediment samples. Water quality was affected by parameters such as nitrate and phosphorous, with nearby agricultural and urban activities having a significant impact.

Enhanced activated persulfate oxidation of ciprofloxacin using a low-grade titanium ore under sunlight: influence of the irradiation source on its transformation products

Jose-Alberto Macias-Vargas et al.

Summary: This study investigated the activated persulfate oxidation of ciprofloxacin using a low-grade titanium ore under sunlight or simulated sunlight. It was found that the degradation efficiency was higher under simulated sunlight compared to natural sunlight. Mass spectrometry results identified 14 possible transformation products with two new ones tentatively identified. The study also proposed two ciprofloxacin degradation pathways based on the type of irradiation used.
