Remediation of cationic and anionic dyes from water by histidine modified mesoporous silica

Summary: This study reported the synthesis of histidine-functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles (MSN-His) for simultaneous removal of methylene blue (MB) and phenol red (PR) from aqueous solutions. The results showed that MB had a maximum adsorption capacity of approximately 65 mg/g in basic media, while PR had a maximum adsorption capacity of approximately 55 mg/g in acidic media. Additionally, the adsorption efficiency of MB and PR improved after the second cycle using MSN-His.

Magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) have gained attention as a versatile carrier for enzyme immobilization, with properties such as high surface area, controllable size, and easy separation. Coating MNPs with different materials can enhance properties and enable industrial applications. This article reviews the design considerations for magnetic nanobiocatalysts, including synthesis routes, surface modification, and immobilization techniques, as well as their role in enhancing biofuels production.

Hierarchical micro- and mesoporous ZIF-8 with core-shell superstructures using colloidal metal sulfates as soft templates for enzyme immobilization

Summary: This study reports a new hierarchical micro-mesoporous zeolitic imidazolate framework-8 (ZIF-8) with core-shell superstructure (HZIF-8) for enzyme immobilization. The immobilized enzyme in HZIF-8 exhibited higher activity and substrate affinity compared to conventional microporous ZIF-8, showing improved stability and reusability. The obtained HZIF-8 also showed outstanding performance in co-immobilization of multienzyme for glucose detection.

Summary: A ship-in-a-bottle strategy was developed for the direct and simple immobilization of 9-amino-(9-deoxy)epi-quinine into hollow polystyrene nano-bowls, achieving good catalytic performance in heterogeneous organocatalysis. The immobilized catalyst displayed fast mass transfer and excellent stability and reusability in acetal hydrolysis/asymmetric aldol tandem reactions. Good to excellent catalytic performances were achieved for acetals bearing electron-withdrawing substituents.
