Laws of Nature as Constraints

Emily Adlam

Summary: In this paper, a novel non-Humean account based on constraints is proposed to address the issue of laws outside the time evolution paradigm, and potential applications to important philosophical problems are described.

Is the Information-Theoretic Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics an ontic structural realist view?

Lucas Dunlap

Summary: This study explores how Ontic Structural Realism can supplement the metaphysics of Information-Theoretic Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics, and analyzes the similarities between the two views. The research finds that the compatibility between the ITIQM view and OSR has decreased as the former's metaphysical commitments evolved.

The operational framework for quantum theories is both epistemologically and ontologically neutral

Laurie Letertre

Summary: Operational frameworks are useful for studying quantum mechanics and promoting antirealist attitudes. This paper reviews arguments defending an antirealist reading of quantum physics and argues that there is no substantial argument that could support or oppose realist or antirealist views of quantum mechanics based solely on formal features. Both realist and antirealist views can be accommodated within operational formulations of the theory.
